Have you ever thought about how we know things? Sometimes it is obvious that we learned whatever it is we know, but sometimes…we just know stuff. As if knowledge or understanding is present in us all by itself.
When I first started getting into herbs and then oils, my knowledge was like an acute sense within; I knew what this or that plant would do without even knowing their names, and when I started learning it was more like remembering the information. At other times I have found myself in situations where I had no clue what to do, still it came to me. How do we know? Some stuff is instinctive, passed down through genetic memory over generations of being and when a situation arrives, this “memory” kicks in and we do all the right things.
On a larger scale we know – in wide strokes – what is going on in the world just by existing in it, without taking in the news. Global and political happenings are obvious if you watch and listen closely enough; the latest economic disaster was obvious for years, it did not come as a surprise. Or all the floods, storms and draughts; the signs were there years before it happened.
Long ago someone told me about the Akashic library. This is the universal knowledge that is there for anybody to tap into. After seeing how much I know from not ever learning, I trust this; knowledge comes from within.
